Raiser's Edge / GiveCampus Connector (from Omatic)

    Hello All,

    We are in conversations with Omatic about an RE / GiveCampus connector. Per their pitch/demo, there is an opportunity to automate a number of steps related gift processing for online gifts. I see opportunities to save time, to reduce errors, and to improve our data quality, but I am also looking for potential pitfalls.

    Is anyone here using Give Campus, Raiser's Edge, and Omatic's RE/GC Connector? If so, would you be open to short call or Zoom session with me and our university's gift administrator?

    I would love to be included in a call. I have Omatic and am just beginning to configure the connector, but am also hearing more about the integration offered by GC, and am wondering if it's a better choice.

    Happy to chat. We use Give Campus, Raiser's Edge, and Omatic's RE/GC Connector (or have been trying to use the connector since February 2024.)

    I hesitate to be negative about any company, and this was in 2019, so I would hope there have been improvements. We tried to contract Omatic to build a connector between Classy (events and revenue) and Blackbaud CRM, thinking it would save our developers time. They gave us a junior developer, and he had no other support, so he was acting as a business analyst, project manager, and QA tester, on top of writing the code. After almost a year, they started over with a new developer that was more experienced, but not with BBCRM, and this project needed expert knowledge of events and revenue in BBCRM. After a year and a half of me testing it and sending it back with more issues than the time before, we gave up.

     

    This was being built from scratch, not using an existing tool they already had. I think the cautionary tale is to ask the right technical questions up front. If anything is being built from scratch, you want to know that their developers know both platforms very well. You might consider building something into your contract that would protect you if they don't deliver, which I would assume is the point of the contract anyway. Again, our experience was from late 2018 through all of 2019, so I hope that things have improved, and they perhaps learned from the experience we had.
