Through the recent partnership, our work is focused on the development of a long-term survey strategy and methodology for understanding needs, views and perspectives of the aasp community. The purpose of the 2018 aasp Salary Survey was to collect, analyze, and compare advancement service salaries across nonprofit organizations that are affiliated with aasp. aasp conducted this survey in order to have up-to-date information and this also provides the ability to analyze trends across nonprofit organizations.

The purpose of the 2016 aasp Staffing Survey was to collect, analyze, and compare advancement services staffing across nonprofit organizations that are aasp members. aasp conducted this survey in order to have up-to-date information, and to analyze trends across nonprofit organizations. This survey was last conducted in 2011.

The 2011 survey was used as the basis for the 2016 survey. aasp partners with !dentify to make adjustments, including the addition of new questions, removal of questions, and changing the response options for a number of questions.

2016 Vendor Survey Report

The purpose of the 2016 aasp Vendor Survey was to collect and explore what external vendors are used by non-profit organizations that are affiliated with aasp, as well as the total amount of dollars spent on outside services and products. The survey included over 50 potential vendor choices and the opportunity to add additional vendors that were not listed. Participants were given the opportunity to select which products their organization currently used or has used in the past.

The purpose of the 2015 aasp Salary Survey was to collect, analyze, and compare advancement service salaries across nonprofit organizations that are affiliated with aasp. aasp conducted this survey in order to have up to date information, and this also provided the ability to analyze trends across nonprofit organizations. The survey was last conducted in 2010.

2011 Staffing Survey

2011 Staffing Survey Report

In the Fall of 2011, the Association of Advancement Services Professionals (aasp) launched a second staffing survey to assess the general structure of advancement services organizations across the country. Much of the survey remained intact from the first iteration launched in 2009, but this time several of the basic organizational demographics questions were flagged as mandatory to support improved analysis. An additional section was added to reflect an overarching administrative function and questions were added to selected sections to gain more robust data. Another component assessed in the 2011 survey was the comparison of outsourced contract staff supporting advancement services in tandem with an organization’s centralized and decentralized operations.

2010 Salary Survey

2010 Salary Survey Report

In the Spring of 2010, the Association of Advancement Services Professionals (aasp) launched a salary survey in an effort to assess the range of advancement services salaries at organizations across the country. Over a two-month period, 120 non-profit organizations completed the survey in its entirety reflecting 9 areas of oversight. Responses came from 29 states, 3 Canadian provinces, plus the District of Columbia. The aasp is grateful to Amy Phillips (Tulane University) for her dedication in developing the survey and providing summary analysis. It is the intention of the Association of Advancement Services Professionals to repeat this survey on a regular basis in an effort to track shifts and trends in organizational structures at all nonprofit organizations.

2009 Staffing Survey

2009 Staffing Survey

In the Spring of 2009, the Association of Advancement Services Professionals (aasp) launched a first-of-its-kind survey in an effort to assess the general structure of advancement services organizations across the country. Over a two-month period, 146 non-profit organizations responded to questions pertaining to staffing and process spanning 14 major categories. Responses came from 33 states, 3 Canadian provinces, plus the District of Columbia. The aasp is grateful to Robert Weiner (Robert L. Weiner Consulting) and Dee Lane (Bentley University) for the many hours they have dedicated to this project to analyze and organize the information contained in this report, as well as the substantial effort and assistance rendered by Gloria Lucini (Carnegie Mellon University – to which institution we are also grateful for having hosted the survey).
