    Hello,

    A donor purchased a table with 10 seats but only used 8 seats, does the tax-deductible portion change? A donor has requested an increase in the deductible amount because two seats went unused.

    No, not really.

    They had ten seats to use and chose not to use them. Not showing up is not a donation!

    However, if a benefit recipient refuses a benefit upfront, their net gift increases. Or, if the realize they are not going to use the benefit and can return the benefit in time for you to reuse or repurpose the gift, that would constitute a GIK.
