    Hello!

    We recently had a donor reach out to us to re-issue a tax letter to include her spouse as well. Are there any IRS rules against that? Is that common? For reference, we issue tax letters and thank you letters separately.

    I have always done this as a matter of course. Unless a spouse tells me to NOT list the other I include both names.

    Where possible I use the system to list the name of the individual who legally made the gift first (using stacked names) as well as in the salutation.
