Hello, everyone! I work at a ski academy and have been with the school for four months. I recently learned about a program through which a relatively small group of donors support sponsorships for a handful of athletes who are competing at the national ski team level.
When I first heard about the program, I was concerned because the number of sponsored athletes is so small that some donors are opting to participate in order to support a specific individual. This makes me wonder if the program is actually a tax-deductible charitable gift? I'm wondering if this is the same principle as a donor who wishes to establish a scholarship and also requests to select the recipient (which would disqualify that as a gift).
Thanks in advance for your advice!
