  • 1.  Receiving initial donor gift through a Matching Gift Program

    Hello!

    Recently received the donors initial gift through the Matching Gift Company's check. Then received their match right after. Is this an example of of a 'donor directed fund' and the initial gift can be hard credited to the donor as opposed to the Matching Gift Company? Thanks!

    This sounds sort of like the Benevity approach where the gifts are happening through a donor advised fund. It is impossible to know who the legal donors are in this case without seeing the accompanying correspondence from the check issuers.
