  • 1.  Process for handling gifts of stock with anonymous/unidentified donors?

    Posted 01-02-2024 04:15 PM

    Hello, all –

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope this email finds you all well.

I wanted to reach out to ask what your institutions' policies/procedures are for handling gifts in which the donor is unknown.  Do you return the stock?  Do you place it into an unrestricted fund if the donor cannot be accurately identified within a given period of time?

Please know that I'd appreciate any and all feedback you're able to provide.

    Many thanks,

We rarely had any unknown stock deliveries. We followed the protocol outlined in my previously shared white paper.

However, we would DK any unknown stock within two days, along with a comment instructing the broker to contact us immediately for clarification. We never sold stock when we did not know the donor.

For anyone who might be looking for the whitepaper John mentioned, it's in the FundSvc Library
