    Hello everyone,

     

    I have quick question about linking Online Receipts to the gift record.

     

    We currently use Raiser's Edge and NXT. Our on line gifts come in through Netcommunity so the donor's receipt is connected to the gift record through a link in NXT.

     

    We are looking to move away from Netcommunity so this function would no longer be available and we were wondering if connecting the receipt for the on line gift is something that is done throughout the industry or do you not worry about having that back up to show what the donor received once they processed their credit card in the CRM?

     

    Any thoughts on this would be very helpful, thanks

    Even if connected that isn't proof that the donor "received" the receipt.

    There is no similar connection with mailed receipts.  Or that they ever left the Post Office.

    I think you do your best to generate a receipt in the most expeditious manner possible, at a reasonable cost.  If a donor does not receive a receipt, they will ask for one.

    The IRS regulations place the responsibility for obtaining a receipt on the donor.  Not the charity.
