  • 1.  Charitable Rollover

    Hello all,

    If we received an IRA charitable rollover check in January mailed to the donor, and the donor and the donor delivered the check in January. The check date is December.  Our Vice President would like to know if you would date the acknowledgment letter 12/31/23. Any insight would be great.

    Per my Annual Date of Gift White Paper, I would date the gift the date I processed it. The date on the check is irrelevant. At worst I'd use the 
    "received" date as shown in IRS Publication 1771 examples.
