  • 1.  BB NXT vs Dbase-- Where is truth?

    Posted 10-13-2022 01:12 PM
    Hi all,
I have a long-open ticket with blackbaud, and I wonder if I am the only one! Tell me I'm not alone!
When I run a report of total committed revenue in NXT, I see a number that does not match the same report in the dbase view.

I have had a ticket open with BB since July. They confirmed my reporting settings are identical on both sides.

For the purposes of troubleshooting, we narrowed the report to a single fiscal year and fund. They told me they found a "bug" which they corrected.  (I'm not sure what they found.)  However, when I open the parameters up to two years, the numbers are still not matching.

Has this been a problem for anyone else?

    Thanks,

    Susan Quinn

    Susan,

I agree with you that they are not producing the same results.
I disagree with Blackbaud that the settings are the same.
WebView excludes certain payment types and reflects soft credits and matching gifts differently than the many options provided in DBView.

We have accepted that WebView will provide a good estimate, but no numbers are official unless they come out of DBView.

Thank you so much, Joel, I was feeling like Alice in Wonderland there for a while.  It's actually helpful to know that they will likely never reconcile. Bummer, though.

I have been able to get DBView to match WebView, but I am excluding things I really want included.

Are you changing the settings in the control panel for what's counted? That's what's been integral for me.

I have done what I can, but we have some non-gift gift records that need to be excluded and I can't limit by fund or fund category.  That is our issue.

We have non-gift records too.  What I've done is excluded by fund type to remove from our NXT Reports.

    Our fund types are:

    Responsibility ~ Self-Assurance ~ Arranger ~ Relator ~ Input

    Susan,

We most certainly had this issue at the start. I found that adding the appropriate gift types into the applicable Insight in NXT fixed the problem. For us, it was stock gifts in excess of the pledge amount that somehow got missed during the original set up. Since that has been revised, we haven't had any problems other than sync times.

Thanks very much-- this is great to know. I still hold out hope that we can work out our settings so we can generate the same committed revenue numbers in both views.
I am trying to encourage the team to use dynamic  reporting in NXT, and it undermines confidence in our tools when web and reports don't match.
For us, write offs seem to be causing the differences. Blackbaud techs haven't  yet explained to me why these are going sideways. But I am still hopeful we can find that answer.
