  • 1.  Who to credit from a check

We've always been told that we hard credit the name on the check.  For example if I was an alum and my husband wrote the check and his name is the only one on the check then my husband would get the hard credit instead of me as the alum.  Is this correct?

Yes indeed. You still receive full soft credit so that you both are recognized.

However, if the account is a joint account (both names are listed), you default to whomever signed the check.
