Hi, I recently went through quite the journey to create a PayPal account for our organization and get it certified as a charity. I then had to go through more hoops to set up a Venmo profile (required obtaining a work cell phone as I already have a venmo account on my personal cell). So the process has not been easy, but we are trying to set it up with all the changes that are happening for tax purposes with Venmo (personal) accounts.
My first question for folks who have also created a Venmo Charity profile... what do you use it for? We have Venmo via our donation form company (GiveCampus) and it seems the Venmo for Charity profile is limited to donations only, so if you were selling merchandise (we're a school), you can no longer use this Venmo account for merch selling. In addition, fees are automatically taken out regardless of payment method (Bank withdrawal or credit card). So with the fees, etc., I don't actually see the point (at least for a school like ours... for larger, national charities, it could make sense as a way to attract new donors).
My second question is--if you do sell something, how do you accept sales easily via credit card/etc.? Do you have a POS software platform with chip/pin reader? Would love recommendations that integrate well with inventory, if that exists.
