As many of you know, I routinely check the IRS website for new or updated documents relevant to our work. I do this more frequently at the beginning of the calendar year, when the IRS typically publishes new guides for filing the most recent years' tax returns.

Today, I found three new documents. Publications 17 and 551 had minor changes.

Please note that there is a new Form 8283. Make sure that when donors send you theirs for last year's gift, they are using the 2025 form. I don't see much change, and the instructions for completing the form are still from December 2024.

Attached is an updated list of all relevant forms. I have also added links to very useful websites that relate to discussions frequently found on this listserv. I compiled these for a recent presentation and figured others might find them useful.

Only one publication on my "must have" list has been updated in the last two weeks: 525 (Taxable and Nontaxable Income).

Given the annual update history, I still expect to see new versions of 557 (Tax-Exempt Status for Your Organization) and 561 (Determining the Value of Donated Property). It would also be helpful if the IRS updated Form 8282 (last updated in 2021, while the 8283 was updated this year) and Publication 1771 (three years old and reflects the QPQ limits from then).

I'll continue to monitor bi-weekly for updates until 4/15 and then resume my semi-annual reviews
