    Hello all,

    My organization does not receive a lot of stock gifts.  2-3 per year at most and they are usually always received in the flurry of the end of calendar year.  Does anyone have a stock gift receipt template they are willing to share?

    This is the language that we use in our receipts for stock, we do not include a value.

     

    Thank you for your gift to Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation. This acknowledges the receipt of the following: number of shares shares of stock name (stock symbol) which we received on date the stock was received by us. No goods or services were provided in return for this gift.

    Molly, the receipt can look the same as the rest of your property donation receipts. You simply describe the property:

    Thank you for your gift of 27 shares of IBM.

    See IRS publication 1771 for receipt language donations near the back of the publication.

    Please remember that per this same publication, no values are ever provided for gifts of property.
