  • 1.  Revising a pledge agreement

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer for this, but curious how you would handle this situation.  I have a donor who is in year 5 of a 10 yr gift agreement.  They are now doubling their payments for the reminder of the pledge and extending it by one year.  Would you revised the existing agreement  or create a new agreement with the additional amount?  I'm leaning towards the later for cleaner gift entry and tracking.

I would not go through all of that.  I would amend the original agreement and modify the current pledge to reflect the new payment plans.

To accurately capture/count the new/additional amount in the current year, I would create a new agreement . . . that agreement would/could refer to the original agreement and be tied to the new pledge . . . i would also make sure that when pledge reminders are generated, they are combined so that that doesn't confuse the donor
