Hi Lisa,
I completely agree with John's answer with one caveat. We had a similar situation where the change was from a current fund to an endowment fund. We had to be really clear with the donors who had already given about what moving it to an endowment meant. Since they had expected their gifts to make an immediate impact, we did have donors who were unhappy with that change. Hopefully your situation is just changing from one current fund to another.

Subject: Reunion Class Gift Changing Designations
Hello,
One of our reunion classes would like to change the designation of the original reunion class gift fund to another new fund. There have been about 12-15 unique donors for this class gift. My thinking is that all donors would need to be contacted and agree to have their gift move from the old fund to the new fund but was asked by the gift officer if the reunion class gift agent could stand in and sign off for all gifts collected in the old fund. I don't think this is an option but wanted to get the thoughts of this group.
Best,
Lisa
