As with most estate gifts, unless you believe there will be numerous payments over an extended period, record the gift on the record of the deceased. Create an "alias name" on that record for "Estate of [deceased name," and mail the receipt with that name in care of the trustee.

Subject: Recording and acknowledging a new endowed account
Hi all,
We have just received a donation to create an endowed account on behalf of a deceased person in memory of another deceased person. The check came from the deceased donor's trustee. In whose name do we record this check, and to whom do we send the acknowledgment?
Many thanks!
