  • 1.  Recognition of the SBA as donor?

    Hello, We are reviewing our donor recognition wall, and we have a question regarding the PPP loan forgiveness.  The organization received the approval of the forgiveness application in 2021.  Should the U.S. Small Business Administration be recognized as Donor ? If so, do you know if the SBA has some policies in regards how wants to be recognized? Thank you.

    As the forgiveness does not meet IRS criteria for charitable donations, I would not regard SBA as a donor.

    Further, if you are in higher education (I know that you are not) and following CASE standards, no government funds are counted in fundraising totals regardless.

    Agree with John - the forgiveness is a federal mandate, it has no charitable intent behind it. That said, I do love this question and the idea of recognizing the SBA or the government for their role in providing pandemic relief funding. I would vote for putting up a plaque!
