  • 1.  Proposal - when should it be closed

    Posted 09-17-2024 09:12 AM

    Hi,

Once a proposal is linked to a multi-year pledge (gift received), should it be closed or be left in stewardship status? What is the best practice

    Thanks

    Tripti

I think we need some more clarity.

Typically, when a proposal is consummated, it is "closed." However, rather than the pledge, the donor is moved to Stewardship in the prospect world. They remain in the gift officer's portfolio but in "stewardship" mode - until they are ready to be moved back into cultivation.

    Does this help?

    Good day, Tripti!

I agree with John but some of this, IMHO, depends on how your organization has established your "moves management" flow. The most straightforward option is to mark a proposal as complete at the time your organization can add either a pledge or outright gift from the donor. Doing that would then most naturally align with - again with moves management in mind - into the stewardship process.

However your database tool describes the process you have outlined for moves management should help articulate next steps.

    With best regards - Amy
