  • 1.  Pledge Agreement

    Hi,

We have an alumnus and their spouse who signed a pledge agreement. However, they are going through a divorce, and have asked that the spouse be removed from receiving credit and no longer be on the pledge. The alumnus has been receiving hard credit and the spouse soft credit. Can we remove the spouse from the pledge, even though they both signed the agreement, which is a legal document? Do we ask them to sign a new agreement?

Go with a new pledge agreement. The first one is still a valid legal document, and unless they both signed a statement removing one from the binding commitment, it's best to get a new agreement from the one agreeing to complete the pledge.
