We have recently updated metrics for our frontline team, and also want to review the process for our gift officer performance plan. I've looked in the best practices and the attachment library but didn't find what I am looking for!
Like many universities, annual performance is measured via a generic form which is required across all departments on campus, but we have an agreement with HR that we can attach a supplemental form, as it relates to gift officers. We also would like to use a FY model for this, instead of the time frame used by university, which is March to March. (Arguably, we could use a rolling method for capturing metrics for this report but it seems unnecessarily complicated because our activity is driven by FYE and CYE deadlines.)
What other other development shops have a different period for performance measurement than the rest of the organization?
Secondly, we would love to see some samples of performance review forms, specific to gift officers. I've seen a few in metrics-related conference presentations but would like to see the whole performance questionnaire, and the guidelines. For example, if your fundraising goal is to raise $500,000, and you raise it, is your performance metric then "meets"? If so, what qualifies for an "exceeds" – and is that reflected in the metrics somehow? What about shared gift credit? Is that taken into consideration for performance? We give the credit/recognition for the collaborative work on our metrics, but not necessarily in performance reviews. Interested in what best practices are out there at the moment.
Appreciate any insight,
