  • 1.  Online giving platform suggestions?

    Posted 01-10-2025 02:10 PM

Hello - our office is looking at replacing our online giving platform in the coming months, and I'm rather overwhelmed with where to even start looking. We are a multi-campus/university foundation that currently uses our online giving platform for regular donation acceptance, event ticket and table payments, and membership/sponsorship level payments. We also use our current platform to have various departmental giving pages that are branded for their university, and our current platform has a fund search feature where folks can search for a specific fund and create a giving link with the fund prefilled in the donation page. We need to be able to accept international gifts, and the ability to accept Apple and Google Pay (and potentially PayPal) gifts.

The platform of course has to be PCI compliant, but we also currently use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, so compatibility with that is also important.

Any suggested platforms, or guidance on where to start?

Not many platforms have all of the functionality you mention. However, you don't say what you currently use or why you want to change. That information would help narrow the field of suggestions tremendously.

In the meantime, Jeff Baynham at NC State curates a spreadsheet of over 300 organizations and their technology. If you go to https://tinyurl.com/CRMEcosystem and then click on the Ecosystem tab, you will see what other RE sites are using and for what functionality.

    Amber -

You might consider exploring the various educational options provided through NTEN as you begin your research. The organization has been around since 2000 and has consistently provided outstanding opportunities to learn along with assessments and projections about what best tools are out there for the nonprofit sphere.

Good luck and best regards - Amy

    Hi Amber....

Give Campus is one of the platforms that meets some of your expressed requirements - in particular they enable the electronic wallets you mention.  You may want to look into this further.

    Hi Amber,

We are currently GiveCampus clients for their online giving and Giving Day/crowdfunding solutions. We have been happy with them as a company and with the functionality with these products. We are not a RE NXT client but I believe that there is a pre-built connector between RE NXT and GiveCampus if you also have ImportOmatic+ powered by Omatic Cloud. I'd advise more exploration on that front though as I have no direct experience with RE NXT/Omatic integration options.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Amber,

I'm not sure that there is a platform that does everything you  want on the functional side, and that also integrates easily with RE. Many of our RE clients use more than one system to meet these needs. Feel free to reach out off-list if you'd like to learn more about the process of requirements-gathering and system-shopping.

If you have imporOmatic in RE, GiveCampus may be a fit. GiveCcampus can accept a variety of electronic payment types and can be imported to a batch easily with Omatic. GiveCampus also has a variety of options - standalone pages, event registrations, and crowdfunding. You can also import RE data to support constituent mapping to gifts.
