  • 1.  OneCause or Other Silent Auction Software

    Posted 02-20-2023 03:16 PM

Our athletics staff is currently looking at the option of using OneCause for their silent auctions. Does anyone on here use this tool or have experience using it? If so, do you have any feedback on the program from a gift processing perspective? I do think some sort of management tool would be extremely helpful for them, but I am just wondering if it is easy to obtain all necessary information from the program to process the gifts.

    Thank you!

Funny you should ask! I am not in a position to recommend one solution over another. However, my daughters' school today launched the online potion of their silent auction. It will conclude in-person at a Jubilee this Saturday.

Anyway, being the curious soul I am I dug around and noted that the school is using GreaterGiving. The registration process was quite simple - and I've already received one automated text notification that an item I bid on has received a higher bid - providing a link to follow if I wanted to better that bid.

Obviously, this isn't scientific. And I haven't any idea whether they are integrating with their CRM (RE). But you asked for other options so here is one!

All of these platforms are likely to be relatively similar. You'll need to meet with your vendor of choice to figure out how easy it is to get the data you need. We don't have the platform integrated with our system of record (RENXT), but we're getting the information we need from GiveSmart. In contrast, if units ran their auctions in-house without a platform, we wouldn't get the correct information to record.

We have used OneCause for our biennual gala, for ticket purchasing, live donations (at the event), and the silent auction.  It's not integrated into our software, but we're able to get all the information we need from the canned reports to enter the giving information into our database.  It's functioned great for us, and it seems to work great for the attendees.  I'm happy to answer any other questions you have, or connect you to my colleague who worked more closely with the program.  gwendonev@gustavus.edu

We have a university within our system that has used OneCause for its annual gala and silent auction for a few years. We just took over the contract so it can be used by our entire system so I'm finally seeing the backend of it. It's quite easy to set up from an admin's perspective and gives us the information we need for gift processing as well even though it's not integrated into our database (RE).

    Thanks,
    Amber

We have used OneCause for over 5 years and I am quite happy with it... given other options available.  Their standard Excel exports provide me with "close enough" data exports that I manipulate in Excel before importing into Raiser's Edge. (I use Importacular as our import tool.)
