    A company pays several months of an organization's energy bill, but pays directly to the energy company. The company is considering this payment as their gift to the org for the year.

    Yes, this is a gift, and you should receipt it, stating no goods and services were given in exchange for the bill payment.

    It can be considered a GIK and receipted as such.  However, you must obtain proof of the payment (canceled check or credit card statement) to issue the receipt.

    It would be best, however, if they made a cash gift to your annual fund or similar.
