I found it! It is hard to read the digital version of the Standards on a phone. However, go to section 3.1.4 at the beginning of the Standards. You will find and exclusions table. There, it clearly excludes all services - and also explains the same thing I did regarding services that accounting may count.

Thank you, John! The nuance I was looking at is that it looks like CASE debated whether or not a specialized professional service could still count toward fundraising goals. Thank you for confirming that it definitely can't be counted financially.

This isn't a nuance. It is still a service and, as described in ITS Publication, is not a tax-deductible gift. Nor is it countable per CASE Standards.
There is, however, a related nuance. Depending on whether it is a professional service recognized by accounting standards as an asset, the value might be bookable on the GL.
As always, you can generate recognition (soft) credit for the donation.

I've been reviewing posts and documentation on GIK counting rules, but have a nuance that I'm not clear on. If the service being donated is specialized and would be paid for if it wasn't being donated, can it be counted as an in-kind donation?
The example here is a company who donated their professional services for treating our trees for Beech Leaf Disease. This is a service we would have paid for were it not provided.
Thank you,
Jaimie
