  • 1.  Gift In Kind Opinions Needed

    Posted 26 days ago

A vendor/company is offering to donate the following for an event associated with our university. We seek confirmation/opinions on what would fall under Gift In Kind.

    Vendor wants to donate:

    •   Food / Beverage – Gift in Kind
    •  Use of Linens and China – We think this falls under equipment rental as GIK
    •   Vendor's event planning team – We think this is NOT a gift in kind as it seems like a service
    • Waiver of the rental fee for the space – The vendor has an exclusive contract with the physical space as manager of the events held within. The space is not owned by the vendor. The rental rate of $40K includes the space, two private security staff, two restroom porters and post-event cleaning. – Is any part of the donated fee waiver considered GIK?

    Thank you for any feedback!

Only the value of the food and beverage is a GIK. Everything else falls under either the services or partial interest category.
