  • 1.  Gift in Kind eligible for sponsorship benefits

    Posted 12-11-2023 09:37 AM

A business made a gift-in-kind donation (creative/marketing services) as a sponsorship for a university-sponsored conference. The sponsorship level includes a benefit (two complimentary registrations). Is this GIK donation for a sponsorship eligible for this benefit?

    Thank you,

    Maureen

Since the in-kind donation is not tax-deductible (services), it is not possible to issue a QPQ receipt. You will want to talk to your CFO but you likely will want to either charge them for the benefit or issue a 1099 if the benefit value is $600+.
