Good morning,
I just started in a small shop where Boston Marathon charitable bib revenue accounts for a significant number of annual donations. The donations go through the Boston Marathon's mandated GivenGain platform and our organization is provided with a report of names, contact information, tribute/Runner name, and amounts to use for gift entry. Historically, each donor was created with a record in our CRM resulting in some messy constituent names. Does anyone have a gift processing guide for these sort of 3rd party fundraisers you can share with me?
My instinct is to review the list and bucket out which gifts can be credited to existing constituents, which donors we have complete and healthy contact information for to create a new record that is usable for future stewardship and solicitation, and which records can be lumped together into a "Friend of [Runner Name] FY2# Marathon" record as an aggregate sum (and backup excel with the data we have for posterity).
If you've dealt with something similar and have recommendations or process documents, I appreciate the guidance!
Thanks!
