Does anyone have a successful model for partnering with Student Affairs and student clubs to accept donations (provided the student club meets IRS guidelines and has an educational purpose/outcome) while also promoting the priority of fundraising for unrestricted dollars?
We are exploring how to begin a better partnership with Student Affairs while balancing limited resources that need to stay focused on annual fund dollars. We would like to develop a consistent process and messaging for when a student club reaches out to us for the purposes of fundraising or accepting donations, rather than treating every request as a one-off. We plan to assess the student clubs according to the IRS guidelines but do you use other criteria to determine which student clubs justify the overhead it takes to set up a new designation, etc.?
