    Hive mind,

Our fraternities and sororities are not part of the national chapters. Some are their own 501(c)3s and some are not. They are their own entities, with their own bank accounts, not part of the university's accounting system. I understand that I cannot accept gifts for them, but may I accept a gift from them and count it as such?

    Thank you.

    Denise

You may accept gifts from any external legal entity as long as they meet all other criteria for charitable contributions. Meaning, they cannot go to non-educational activities or specific individuals or small groups.
