     Good afternoon

An odd question which i am not even quite sure how to phrase.  More than a decade ago an alumna established an endowed fund in honor of a former professor.  Recently, this alumna came forward and indicated that she would like to be removed as a report recipient, and further, should any questions arise related to the fund and future amendments, she wants to ensure that she will not be contacted, This alumna would like us to document this as an addendum to the original agreement.  This is a new one for me.  While there is no animosity that we are currently aware of between the alumna and the University, she is pretty set on getting this documented. To be clear, she is not requesting any changes to the fund itself; only that she no longer be associated with it.

Have any of you encountered this?  What language did you use?

This is a strange one. It suggests an outreach opportunity by the MGO (or their successor) to meet with the alumna.

Regardless, acting on the request does not require an addendum to the original endowment agreement. A "memo to file" should be sufficient. Of course, you can make the memo an addendum for all the good it will do. It's not likely that future staff will pull those files.

However, you must document in your stewardship system (if separate from your CRM) and CRM the "no contact" request - at least for this endowment. She will need to understand that it is not possible for you to guarantee she will never hear from someone about this endowment. Her name is permanently attached to the endowment, and someone years from now may want to approach her for a new gift. I don't know how you can prevent that without making her entire record "No Contact," but that isn't what she's requested. Hence, the need (I believe) for outreach now to understand her precise concerns.
