  • 1.  End of calendar year letter

    We send regular acknowledgement letters to constituents when gifts come in.  Is it a legal responsibility that we have to send an end of calendar year letters to constituents saying your gifts for calendar year 2024 is $XXX?  If so does anyone have a sample letter?

    It is a nice gesture but not required. IRS Publication 1771 outlines what is required. 

    NC State only sends year-end receipts to donors who make recurring gifts via credit card, payroll, or ACH. We opt not to receipt them each month and send them at the end of the year.
