  • 1.  Credit card gift entry dates

    Hi all,

    I'm needing to check myself that we're following the correct process when it comes to the date Credit Card gifts are recorded.

    For recording the gift in our software, we use:

    1. the date the donor made the gift for:
     - Credit card or ACH gifts on our website or at events (deposits daily)
     - Online gifts made on GiveCampus (deposits daily or weekly)

    2. the date we receive the check or wire transfer from:
    - Reaching our Goal (one payment from ROG at the end of the campaign)
    - Benevity or other third party fundraiser (monthly or quarterly for all payments collected in that timeframe)

    Are we okay to follow these paths?

    Why don't you standardize everything and use the date you entered the gift (processed date) in your CRM?

    Please take a look at the attached paper I wrote years ago - and continue to stand by. I publish this on FundSvcs annually.
