    We have a group wanting to solicit donations from local companies like gift cards, snacks, etc. for a campus wide event. These items would be given away at their table during the event. If there's no purchase necessary for these and the items are just being given away, regardless of donation, does this constitute a gift-in-kind? The 'duh' in me says yes but I've gotten myself confused going down rabbit holes.

    You had me with a yes until you mentioned the items were only available at "their table." which makes this feel more like a marketing in ploy.

    If they distribute these at a concession stand or registration table, I give this a thumbs up. But if you must go to their booth/table I am less inclined.
