  • 1.  Campaign - Pledge Write Off Policies/Procedures

    Posted 12-11-2024 12:45 PM

Hello! I'm in search of best practices/"what are other institutions doing" procedures for pledge write-offs and/or pledge write-offs specifically for campaign contributions. If there are any institutions that would like to share, please let me know.

    Thank you!

The CASE Standards suggest guidelines, and they have suggested that you should not alter the review and write-off protocols just because you are in a campaign.

I am back at my desk and affirm that the suggested review and write-off procedures are outlined on page 59 in paragraph 6.3.3.

CASE's original stance was that protocols should be kept the same even if you are in a campaign. The newest guidelines allow for a shift during a campaign if you want one. However, CASE states in paragraph 6.3.4 that decisions regarding write-offs "should be made prior to the start of the campaign and announced to appropriate audiences at the outset of the campaign and ought to remain consistent throughout the campaign."

In my book, this implies that if you did not alter your standards before a campaign, then you must follow the protocols in existence before the campaign.
