Is anyone familiar with Bold.org?  They are a charitable organization that sets up scholarships.

We have a donor who would rather establish their scholarship with this organization than with us "so they can retain sole discretion to select the winners".   From reading the "How it works" page, Bold.org narrows a list of applications to a finalist and the donor gets to help select the recipient(s).

Anyone have any experience with this org?

I have not heard of it but took a look at their website. It doesn't look like it would be possible for a donor to direct a scholarship to a person they know and the organization ultimately picks the recipients. Interesting business model. Seems like the ethical risks are high to me. What if a donor doesn't like scholarship applicants with blue hair?

    Also, happy year end all!

Hey @Jeff Baynham.  This sounds like DAFs for scholarships.  I don't know how your organization would even have any idea on who the original donors were.  I could imagine this making recognition difficult if not completely impossible.

I've never heard of them before just now, but can't believe they will be the only organization to try something like this.
