    I am curious to hear from any of you using Classy for online donations.  I am working with an organization that is finding it difficult to reconcile their donations with the Business Office and their bank statements.

    If anyone has solved this issue in an elegant manner, please let me know!

    Hi, John.  Did you receive replies to your question? We are having the same issue.  The latest is we have a parent who made a recurring gift in December to be charged monthly, and the first recurring gift pay cash was charged for the same amount.  The second transaction was processed at the end of January, but the gift amount brought into RE NXT was less than that of the recurring gift. Advancement believes this may be due to the conversion (the parent lives in Mexico), but they have contacted Classy for more information.  We never had this problem with Blackbaud Merchant Services.

    The three replies I received were all the same - the issue was one of timing. When the charges was made was not always the same as when the funds were available. When you look over a longer period the payments line up (as long as none were rejected).

    I am confident your issue is one of conversion. That can happen with and merchant.

    Thank you.  How is this addressed? What is the best practice for recording this gift in Raiser's Edge?

    This will be an institutional policy decision.

    I prefer to treat foreign transactions based on what we actually received. That will sync you up with the bank and GL.

    However, my receipts for foreign donations always reflect what was actually given (in the foreign denomination) AND the USD amount.
