Good morning, I’m wondering what other educational institutions are doing to find employment information on their alumni. We no longer do an alumni directory book since everything is now on our online alumni directory. However, this doesn’t seem to be yielding the results we were expecting/hoping for. Are there recommended pay-sites that others have found successful in obtaining business information on their alumni constituents. I’d love to get responses from anyone who has encountered this challenge and to hear what sources are available to help fill the gaps in collecting this type of data. Many thanks! Geri, We’ve used AlumniFinder. We received a great deal of data back from them, but specifically enjoyed the list of LinkedIn profile URLs that matched a number of our alums. I believe they base that list off of the alumni who list our school in the education section of their profile. From there, we were able to learn a great deal about our alumni. Our data was very bad, so it took some time to work through the results. But we’ve been enjoying learning more about our alums in that way. We’re smaller (under 12,000 alums), so the results were manageable. One interesting note – we have a large number of nursing alumni, and we’ve had a difficult time finding a source of info for RNs. If anyone has solved that issue, I’d love to hear it! Dear Nate – as an aside: if you happen to know where the RNs live, state licensing boards can be a pretty good source for professions as they have to self-report current info when they renew their licenses. This only works if they are currently employed and you know the state. Cheers. To echo Michael’s comment - We’ve been using a combination of Sales Navigator (for individual lookups) and LiveAlumni (when we need to pull mass extracts after alumni chapter reviews). The only headache that we’ve encountered is trying to figure out how to code someone who has shifted to ‘gig’ economy jobs (aka “I am the brand”), where you may be a yoga teacher at 3 different places and are a personal / lifestyle coach as well.
