Kate, on the piano I have received many! But the ongoing costs and maintenance issues are not something you should be worrying about - unless it is going in your office! Whichever department is going to receive the piano needs to do the due diligence which also includes an assessment of the piano and its condition BEFORE the gift is accepted. I'd they still want it then it is their responsibility to estimate ongoing costs and secure budgets for those. I agree with John, but as the son of a piano technician if you are in need of someone to asses the piano condition, etc. check out Piano Technicians Guild <http://www.ptg.org/Scripts/4Disapi.dll/4DCGI/directory/RPT/person.html> where you can find a registered technician in your area. Hello, everyone. 1. I'm looking to connect with others who use Blackbaud products and have a finance team that uses non-Blackbaud products for the accounting functions. We may be headed in that direction and your input and feedback is most welcome. 2. Has anyone been involved in accepting a gift of property of a piano? I'm hoping to learn from others what annual or other maintenance costs we should expect if the gift is accepted, and any other risks we should consider before accepting. Thanks. Hi Kate, We receive many piano donations each year; however as John pointed out, the ongoing maintenance isn’t our concern. Our Piano Department makes the decision as to whether to accept or decline a piano gift. There have been many offers where the condition of the piano didn’t make it worth the maintenance/repair costs, so it was not accepted. Our Finance Department operates on Blackbaud now, but there was a time when we were on two different systems. We had to send them reports detailing how all the gifts were to be designated and then someone in Finance manually post the transactions to the general ledger of the system they used.
