Is anyone using barcode scanning during gift entry? Supposedly, BB CRM has the ability to replace finder numbers with barcodes. If you are using barcode scanning, can you also recommend a make/model barcode scanner? Thanks in advance! Hi Erica, We've been scanning barcodes for gift entry in Raiser's Edge for about 6 years, and we've been using the same equipment the whole time. We use Datalogic Gryphon series scanners. They're very reliable and easy to use. (Not that we have anything to compare to.) The scanners seem to work better when the barcode is printed on thinner (lighter?) media. Also, the barcode needs to be crisp - if there's any kind of aliasing they won't be read. We have our barcodes set to add constituent, appeal, and package IDs into batches. Please reach out if you have more questions, and good luck on this venture. Best, Dania Calandrino Data Integrity Specialist Department of Development Records The Art Institute of Chicago

Dania, I, too, am interested in barcode scanning with Raiser's Edge. Are you using RE7 or Blackbaud CRM? We also use PaperSave and are exploring their OCR options with them - at an additional cost of course. Thanks for your time. Julie Kelley Gift Processing Manager The Citadel Foundation
