When I have the module - I agree with Greg. Right now we do not and we store them in the ratings tab. We use the ratings through the prospect tab On 8/19/2019 9:38 AM, Lisa Bellamy wrote: > > For Raiser’s Edge users – > > I plan to roll out a simple internal prospect ratings system (not > external vendor ratings) for prospect management – A, B, C / 1, 2, 3 / > Hot, Warm, Lukewarm / whatever. > > We are a fairly new department and just getting to this point. > > Do you have a preferred method for internal ratings – Proposal Tab?  > Attributes?  I am asking about process, not ratings context or > strategy and I am more interested in your experience than Blackbaud > documentation although I’ll of course take a look.  Our database > manager is agnostic on this issue. > > Thank you, > > Lisa Bellamy >

Lisa, At the organization I was at before - we tracked this information in Raiser's Edge via the Prospect Tab - under ratings. We just made the Source - "Internal Research" or "Internal" and the Category Dropdown options: "High Probability, Moderate Probability, Neutral, Low Probability and Will Not Donate". If we updated any ratings, I believe we would use "Older Ratings" to see what the previous rating had been. This was a while ago so my memory on this isn't 100% but I seem to recall being able to see the previous ratings. This could also be accomplished via an Action or via Notes. Putting this info in the ratings section of the Prospect Tab seemed to work well for our purposes. -Heather On Mon, Aug 19, 2019 at 9:39 AM Lisa Bellamy <lbellamy@episcopalchurch.org> wrote: > For Raiser’s Edge users – > > > > I plan to roll out a simple internal prospect ratings system (not external > vendor ratings) for prospect management – A, B, C / 1, 2, 3 / Hot, Warm, > Lukewarm / whatever. > > > > We are a fairly new department and just getting to this point. > > > > Do you have a preferred method for internal ratings – Proposal Tab? > Attributes? For Raiser's Edge users - I plan to roll out a simple internal prospect ratings system (not external vendor ratings) for prospect management - A, B, C / 1, 2, 3 / Hot, Warm, Lukewarm / whatever. We are a fairly new department and just getting to this point. Do you have a preferred method for internal ratings - Proposal Tab? Attributes? I am asking about process, not ratings context or strategy and I am more interested in your experience than Blackbaud documentation although I'll of course take a look. Our database manager is agnostic on this issue. Thank you, Lisa Bellamy

Lisa, In my experience at working and consulting with a number of institutions it seems to me that the favored place to put prospect management ratings is in the Prospect tab. However, there is somewhat of a drawback in that it's not easy to track changes to prospect management ratings within the Prospect tab. One solution to that would be to track changes in the Attributes tab, although doing that inevitably leads to more information clogging the Attributes tab. In the end I think I would still recommend the Prospect tab for prospect management information, and leave the question of whether you want to track prospect management ratings changes to personal preference. It should go into Prospect Tab, though like others will mention, it’s difficult to track changes in status. I would suggest Actions which is the second tier of prospecting as it’s designed. You can set up an Action for the ratings and then when there is a change either add a new Action with the new rating and consider the old one complete, or use the same Action and track the change in the notes or Action Attributes. And if you have not yet, read Bill Connors book “Fundraising with the Raiser’s Edge: a non-technical guide” there is a whole section on prospecting stuff. Christine A.
