From a tax perspective, facts and circumstances would override how an expense is presented. Therefore labelling the pledge reminder as an “invoice” doesn’t offset any charitable intent if it exists.

We recently sent a Pledge Reminder to donor, who responded with a request for an Invoice. Is it OK to issue an Invoice for a donation?
I am concerned that the Invoice will imply a contractual obligation, and thus negate the donative intent. Am I over-thinking this?
