You can issue a thank you letter, but no gift-in-kind receipt. And the letter should be clear as to what they did (perform) without mention of any value. The group is performing - offering a service - which is not tax-deductible per the IRS nor countable per CASE. John John H. Taylor Principal, John H. We have a department that is having a Christmas party and they don't have money in their budget. They have asked a music group, Eclipse, to come and perform at the party. They want us to provide a Gift in kind receipt to Eclipse. Any advice? They are thinking it might be worth about $4200 but they are hoping the group will give them a discounted price. Has anyone else ever had a request like this? Thanks, Sue Sue Christensen Assistant Director, Advancement Services Salt Lake Community College Development Office, AAB 101P 4600 South Redwood Road Salt Lake City, UT 84123 801-957-5179

If an organization "gifts" us 20 VIP tickets to an NFL Training Camp, which the NFL team estimates the value of the tickets at $50 per person, but we've not been provided any value by the organization gifting them to us (I'm certain they actually paid anything for them). Can these be counted as an in-kind gift to our university?
