  • 1.  Facebook donation and the issue of anonymous donors

Hi everyone, What is your experience receiving donations via Facebook? Some members of our board wish to utilize Facebook for their board give/get efforts but I worry about donations coming in as "anonymous." I know this was a huge problem with my last employer as these gifts generally came in as "anonymous donor" through Network for Good. I recently heard that setting up our organization with Facebook Payments should resolve this issue but I wish to double check this claim. Let me know your experience as it relates to extracting the donor name and address information. Please note, a discussion about receipting or the legal donor principal is not necessary. (I'm a fan of Alan Hejnal) :) Thank you so much in advance. Best, Rodrigo Anthony Guardado, Jr. Director of Development InsideOUT Writers 1212 N. We are set up and take donation through Facebook. You don't get anonymous donations this way but you only get the donor name and rarely an email. I still find it better than through Network for Good though! April, Was there any difficulty with getting registered with Facebook to receive the funds from them vs Network for Good, so that you do at least get a name of the donor? I am currently lobbying to get our pages registered so we can receive information on who started the fundraiser and who has donated. There is reluctance to do this from others..... Any feedback you can give would very appreciated. I didn't set it up myself but one of our programs did it for their branch first and then Marketing did it for our Y overall. It was challenging in that they only allowed one page per EIN at first and you have to enter the CEO's birthday, lol. I have the instructions I can send you if it's helpful? Thank you, April

Sorry it is not so much as instructions as a list of what's needed. Which is below: 1. Your organization's official name, address, contact info, tax ID, and nonprofit category 2. Your CEO or executive director's name, date of birth, and business address. 3. A legible bank statement or official bank letter dated within the last 3 months.

Hi everyone, How is everyone dealing with recording Facebook gifts when you are not provided more than a name (and occasionally an email)? Are you able to identify and confirm your specific donors with just a name and no other data, such as an address is provided? Thank you in advance.
