Ticketing System Recommendations

  • 1.  Ticketing System Recommendations

Hi All, Do any of you have recommendations for a robust ticketing system? We are looking for a product that allows our campus partners to submit data requests through a form which can then be approved and assigned to a team member. We currently use a google form but are looking for something a bit more robust that will allow us to more easily track request stats. Thank you in advance! *Rachel E. We've been using WebHelpDesk <https://www.webhelpdesk.com/>from SolarWinds for a few years and it has met our needs. Campus IT has just begun implementing an enterprise solution from Cherwell. At some point, we will have a discussion about the pros and cons of moving to the campus-wide system. --Scott *Scott B. Hi Rachel Our central IT Team uses ServiceNow for all their ticketing, so they built custom forms and work flows for our department within ServiceNow. The system is very robust and our users have been very happy with the process. First, there was a session about this at AASP Summit last year that knocked my socks off. You might want to hunt that down at the AASP website. Perhaps the presentation is available? The presenter was Jeffrey Wat and the presentation was titled “Automating Repetitive Tasks and Creating Workflows” from my notes. Having said that, we also have an enterprise-wide solution via Jira. It has pros and cons. It’s mostly designed for a one-off IT helpdesk customer service solution. The complexity of our customer service needs doesn’t fit well. But we are learning, growing, and trying to adjust our workflows to accommodate. Getting information out of the system for metrics and reporting is a bear.
