The Associate Director, Prospect Research is primarily responsible for
meeting the need of College leadership—particularly the president of the
College and the vice president for Advancement—to be fully briefed on the
donors and donor prospects with whom they are working. The associate
director works with the office of the chief of staff to create briefs on
nominees and prospective nominees for the Board of Managers and works with
the chief investment officer and the director of Prospect Discovery and
Development to identify prospective nominees for the Investment Committee.
The associate director also partners with individual gift officers in
Advancement to guide the identification, engagement, and solicitation of
prospects.
Essential Responsibilities
- Analyze, synthesize, and summarize large volumes of biographic,
business, philanthropic, and financial data, including complex financial
and legal disclosures, technical and trade documents, court and tax
records, corporate annual reports, SEC filings, and real property files.
- Disseminate results through well-designed, well-written, visually
engaging profiles, short narratives, presentations, and other reports, as
well as maps, charts, and graphs.
- Identify new prospects on a regular and ongoing basis, provide an
evaluation of giving ability, and suggest strategies for engagement and
solicitation of prospects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three or more years’ experience in prospect research
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
Suite, working knowledge and experience with major research databases and
internet search tools
