  • 1.  How do you deal with donations from banks?

First, there is only one Wells Fargo Foundation. There might also be a separate foundation for matching only. This could either be an alternate address or a branch office. You should call them to inquire. When it comes to bank branches that make independent contributions within their communities, I think it is critical to create a separate record linked to their ”parent.” The local office deserves its own recognition and stewardship - those employees are consciously making a commitment to you! We don’t want to keep creating records but are not sure what else to do when the checks have different addresses on them. Most recently we received a check from Wells Fargo Foundation that said it was a matching gift, but had a different address from a check we had received from the Wells Fargo Foundation Matching Gift Program. So we created a new record and put the donation on that record. I just checked GuideStar and confirmed bu one "Wells Fargo Foundation." It is located in Minneapolis. There is, however, a Wells Fargo & Company Employee Benefit Trust and a separate similar entity for retirees - both registered in San Francisco. I also found two related "regional" foundations in Philadelphia. Whenever in doubt as to which legal entity made a donation - call them. John John H. Taylor Principal, John H. We have several records for Wells Fargo, Mountain America Credit Union, etc. How do you deal with donations that come from a bank or credit union? We don't want to keep creating records but are not sure what else to do when the checks have different addresses on them. Most recently we received a check from Wells Fargo Foundation that said it was a matching gift, but had a different address from a check we had received from the Wells Fargo Foundation Matching Gift Program. So we created a new record and put the donation on that record. Any advice?
