  • 1.  Experiences with Enterprise Information Management within Advancement Services?

    Posted 05-10-2019 10:16 AM
Hi Christopher, I work with institutions to help them develop such a road map, among other things. Based on my experience, here's what I'd suggest: First, what is the goal for developing this road map? Based on your post, I assume that it's to improve data quality, design quality, and overall usability of the system(s). (You mentioned Master/Reference Data Management; I assume you are alluding to overall database design.) This is often based on some pain points and perceived gaps/discrepancies perceived in the organization's current systems, processes, skill set etc. Have you assessed your current state and identified pain points and priorities? That should be ideally the first step. In terms of experiences, I believe that simply developing a road map may not really present a learning opportunity, however, a road map will give your organization clear steps/milestones to be accomplished towards your end goal. During the process, if you undertake an assessment, it might uncover a few things, such as need for a system upgrade, or need for a modern tool set, need for redesigning processes, etc. Hope this helps, *Medha Nanal* *Strategic Data & CRM Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations* (Fundraising, Programs, Operations, Communications) 650-600-9374 www.topcloudconsult.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, May 10, 2019 at 11:05 AM Christopher Amherst <cmadar@rit.edu> wrote: > We are starting to develop an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) > roadmap. > > From my side of the house –we are focusing on the Data Quality Management > and Master/Reference Data Management aspects of EIM > > > > Has anyone developed a similar roadmap at their institution? It's been nearly 6 years since I was on that team (how time flies!). I see they now use a different term: Data Sensitivity Framework. Nonetheless, I think you will find these resources useful: https://oit.ncsu.edu/it-security/data-framework/ John John H. Taylor Principal, John H.
