This is a situation where I would need to contact the CFO and ask how they would prefer to handle this. At the very least I would issue a receipt that fully outlines the circumstances of the transactions and leave them to determine how best to proceed. John John H. Taylor Principal, John H. We received a request from a corporation for a donation that was made to our 2018 golf event. Our contact made the $1,000 contribution using his corporate credit card; however, that is against the company's policy. So the company would like us to refund the gift made in August 2018. It also will make an donation to our 2019 golf event, so it will send us one check for $2000. Our current plan is to issue the refund for the gift made in 2018, then split the check we receive in 2019 evenly between the two events. We would then issue a tax receipt in 2019 for the $2000 we received. Since the deadline for filing 2018 corporate taxes has already passed, should we include some language about how the donor should speak with its tax advisor regarding any necessary adjustments to its 2018 taxes?
