What do others do when you receive a matching gift? Do you steward the donor and let them know you received the matching gift? I am wondering whether other institutions let the donor know when they receive a matching gift. Thank you. If the matching gift comes in separately from the donor’s gift, then we send them a card and let them know it arrived. If it came in simultaneously (through a workplace giving check, for example), we don’t do anything. We send donors an email in the beginning of the month for matching gifts received in the month prior. We treat YourCause as a third-party or "Acting as an agent of" so we book employer payroll distributions to the individual donor and matching gifts/corporate donations to the corporate donor. If booked to the individual donor, we do not receipt them because YourCause does, but we do acknowledge them.
